Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 16, 2026
This policy explains what data NomadHearts collects, why, who it is shared with, how long we keep it, and what control you have. NomadHearts is operated by AWC-DIRECT LLC ("we", "us"), and covers the website nomadhearts.online and the NomadHearts mobile app (the "Service").
The short version: we do not sell your data. Strangers never see your exact location — only a fuzzed area of about ten miles across around where you are. Your precise position goes only to friends you approve one by one, and you can switch it off at any time. Deleting your account deletes your data, including your photos.

2. What we collect
| Category | What it is | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider). | You, at sign-up |
| Profile | Display name, profile and vehicle ("rig") photos, short description, what you are looking for (dating / travel buddy / community), your public Nomad-ID, and any social media links you choose to add. | You |
| Route & location | The route stops you add; your approximate position (rounded to about ten miles) for discovery, which you can switch off; your precise position only where you have enabled sharing with a specific friend. | You and your device |
| Content | Chat messages, Feed and blog posts, comments, events, convoys, Handy Nomads posts, Marketplace listings, ratings, and any photos you upload. | You |
| Interactions | Connection requests, friends and friend groups, event and convoy participation, blocks, and reports. | You and other members |
| Technical | Standard server logs from our hosting providers: IP address, date and time, device or browser type, app version, and error reports. | Automatically |
| Waitlist | Name and email address submitted on the website before launch. | You |
We do not ask for government ID, we do not run background checks, and we do not collect biometric data.
3. How location works
Because this is the most sensitive data we hold, here is exactly how it is handled:
- Discovery and the map: other members see only an approximate area derived from your route, rounded so it never reveals where you actually are.
- Friends: your precise position is visible only to friends you have individually approved. The default is that nobody sees it. You can revoke any share at any time.
- Foreground only: your position updates when you open the app. We do not track you in the background and we do not build a movement history.
- Distance filters (Handy Nomads, Marketplace, events) are calculated on your device from your current position; other members see a distance, not a location.
4. Why we use it
| Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Providing the Service: matching, messaging, community, marketplace, location features | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Sharing your precise location with chosen friends | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — revocable at any time |
| Waitlist notification before launch | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Showing ads in the app | Consent where required (EEA/UK, Art. 6(1)(a)); otherwise legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in keeping the app free |
| Safety, moderation, preventing fraud and abuse, enforcing our rules | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Answering your support requests | Contract / legitimate interests |
| Complying with legal obligations and responding to lawful requests | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
Data you choose to publish — such as being interested in dating — is provided by you deliberately as part of a dating service. You can change or remove it at any time in your profile.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and advertisers never receive your profile, your messages, your posts or your location. The only advertising-related data leaving your device is what Google AdMob needs to show ads, described under "Advertising in the app" below. We use service providers who process data on our behalf under contract:
| Provider | Purpose | Region |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, photo storage, realtime chat | European Union |
| IONOS | Website and email hosting | European Union |
| Mapbox | Maps and address search (geocoding) | United States |
| Expo / EAS | Mobile app delivery and updates | United States |
| Google Play and Apple App Store | App distribution and, if introduced, purchases | United States |
| Google AdMob | Banner ads in the app | United States |
| Google Ads | Measuring whether a visitor who came from one of our ads went on to our Google Play or App Store page (website only) | United States |
Advertising in the app
The app is free and shows a banner ad provided by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud, AdMob receives information from your device, such as your IP address and information about your device and the app. On Android, where your device settings allow it, this includes your device's advertising ID, which Google may use to personalize ads; you can reset or delete that ID in your Android settings. On iPhone, the advertising identifier is only available if you allow it when iOS asks "Allow Nomad Hearts to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites?". The app asks once, not on your first day. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", or have switched off tracking requests in your iPhone settings, ads are not personalized and the identifier is not shared. You can change your answer at any time under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. In the EEA and the UK you are asked for consent before ads are personalized, and you can change that choice under Settings → Privacy & safety → Ad preferences.
AdMob does not receive your profile, your messages, your posts or your location from us. Google's own use of this data is described in its partner sites policy.
We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect the safety of a person or to investigate a violation of our Community Guidelines.
Cookies and your consent
This section is about the website; ads in the app are covered above. On the website we use one thing beyond what is technically necessary: Google Ads conversion tracking. It tells us whether a visitor who came from one of our ads went on to tap one of our store buttons. It records that the tap happened — not who you are — and it is not used to build a profile of you on this site.
- Nothing loads until you agree. On your first visit you are asked. Google's tag is only downloaded and only sets a cookie after you select "Accept". If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no advertising cookie is set and no data goes to Google.
- You can change your mind at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page.
- Your choice itself is stored locally in your browser so we do not have to ask again. That is the only thing we store without asking, and it contains nothing about you.
- You can also block cookies for this site in your browser, or use Google's ad settings.
Where consent is required, our legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and the corresponding national ePrivacy rules); you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future.
Note that other members see what you choose to publish: your profile, posts, listings, ratings, and — for friends you approve — your location.
6. International transfers
We are based in the United States, while several of our providers store data in the European Union. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards, in particular the standard contractual clauses of the respective provider.
7. How long we keep it
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account and profile | Until you delete your account |
| Photos in storage | Deleted with your account |
| Messages | Until you delete your account; the recipient's copy of a conversation may remain with them |
| Posts, listings, events | Until you delete them, or with your account |
| Location | Only the latest position is stored, and it is overwritten on each update |
| Reports, blocks, moderation records | Kept after account deletion where needed for safety, to prevent ban evasion, or to defend legal claims |
| Server logs | Short term, as generated by our hosting providers |
| Waitlist | Until launch, or until you ask us to remove you |
| Backups | Removed on the normal backup rotation after deletion |
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, in the app, at any time: Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your profile, content, and uploaded photos. It cannot be undone. Where we must keep limited records — for example a block or a moderation record — we keep only what is necessary for that purpose.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and database-level access rules (row-level security) so that your location and private content are only reachable by the people you have chosen. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a breach where the law requires it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- access the data we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your data — in most cases you can do this yourself in the app;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that already happened.
To exercise any of these, email info@nomadhearts.online from the address on your account. We respond within the time limits set by applicable law. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
11. EU/EEA representative
To be completed before EU availability: where required under Article 27 GDPR, a representative in the European Union will be appointed and named here. Until then, EU users can contact us directly at info@nomadhearts.online.
12. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and why (see sections 2 and 4), to request access, correction, and deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. Submit requests to info@nomadhearts.online; we will verify your request through the email address on your account.
13. Age
NomadHearts is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use it. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we learn of such an account, we remove it. If you believe a minor is using the Service, please tell us at info@nomadhearts.online.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top and, for material changes, give notice in the app or by email before they take effect.
